A lush tropical landscape intervention designed to soften and reactivate the shared pilotis space of a residential building in Renti, Athens.
An underutilized apartment block courtyard was transformed into a layered Mediterranean-tropical garden, introducing shade, texture, movement and seasonal variation into the everyday life of the building’s residents. Dense planting compositions of ferns, tropical foliage, flowering shrubs and climbing species create a soft transition between architecture and nature, while discreet lighting and natural stone details enhance the atmosphere during the evening hours.
Designed as a living communal landscape rather than a decorative planting bed, the project brings biodiversity, microclimatic comfort and a renewed sense of care into a typically overlooked urban typology — the pilotis of the Athenian polikatoikia.
