Pocket Urban Garden @ Holargos

An ecological landscape intervention designed to soften and reactivate the transit edge of one of Athens’ busiest metro corridors.

A neglected residual space outside the Holargos metro station was transformed into a compact Mediterranean landscape intervention, introducing vegetation, texture, and ecological softness into an otherwise mineral and infrastructure-heavy urban environment.

Centered around mature olive trees and layered with drought-tolerant Mediterranean species, aromatic plants, ornamental grasses, and natural stone elements, the intervention redefined the site as a small urban ecosystem — softening the pedestrian experience while reintroducing biodiversity, seasonal change, and a stronger sense of place into the everyday rhythm of the city.
